SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
In the winter of 2010 Liziwe Mafumbula and her daughter started the Imizamo
Soup Kitchen in Fairyland, Paarl. Fairyland is an informal housing settlement in Daljosaphat.
Lemoenkloof soon became involved in the project in a number of ways:
We replaced the original make-shift shelter, the roof of which consisted mainly of highly flammable black plastic. A fire place was built, and we committed to the regular supply of gas.
We also began to oversee the provision of stock. With the help of the Paarl Night Shelter, we have co-ordinated the supply of soup meat and bones. Paarl Market has assisted with the supply of vegetables.
The soup kitchen manages to feed approx 300 children twice a week. Lemoenkloof, their self-appointed guardian, will continue to assist and oversee this project.
